Honey is a wonderful food. It is sweet, delicious and even beautiful. Honey has antibacterial properties, it has been used medicinally for thousands of years and honey is said to calm the mind and promote sleep.
Honey is, undeniably, a good thing.
But if the makers of the honey, the bees who create this treat, pull their ingredients from an Oleander plant, the pure, sweet honey becomes infused with poison.
Just a little bit of poison mixed in with the good.
Oleander, even in small doses, can cause death due to it's effects on the heart. You can become poisoned just by breathing in it's smoke or by eating honey with Oleander.
The goal of this blog is to find and extract the Oleander from the Honey of good theology. Particularly where the perversion or confusion of law and gospel comes into play. Please feel free to discuss and challenge, as many topics here are a matter of interpretation and have been interpreted differently by great Christian minds throughout the ages and will continue to be debated until the end of time.
Peace.
A thousand and one thank yous, Rachel! The Ludys and Jim & Elisabeth Elliot's teachings and "cult of personality" deceived me for years...MISERABLE years, because I DID want to be pleasing and pure to God...and this sort of errant theology will bring untold miseries to a tender conscience!!
ReplyDeleteWhat relief, freedom and TRUE holiness the gospel of Jesus Christ and grace brings!!
Thank you sis! :-)
