Resources

This is an incomplete compilation of helpful links that I've appreciated and have helped me grow.  I may or may not agree with every single little thing on every site. ;)

**new**  Women's Roles in the Bible

Quivering Daughters

-This was my introduction to grace.  Love the grace-filled writing here!  Not updated as frequently now, so be sure to check out the archives.

Eric Pazdziora

- Some of the clearest explanations of Scripture exist on this guy's blog.  Some of my favorites are his antidote to spiritual abuse and God's prescription for your discouragement. He also does a fantastic job dispelling the myth of the lukewarm christian.    And -bonus!- beautiful music! :)

True Faced: "What if I tell you there are no lists? What if I tell you I don't keep a log of past offenses, of how little you pray, how often you have let me down, made promises that you didn't keep? What if I tell you - you are righteous with my righteousness, right now? What if I tell you, I am CRAZY about you! Live in my grace with your True Face"

Grace For the Heart:  Great resource, articles on the site and a link to their blog - Dave Orrison welcomes you to contact him with questions and his writings helped me a lot on my journey away from legalism.  If you have felt the effect of formulas in your life, maybe start with When The Formula Fails.

Darcy's Blog.  Love her writing.  Read her series on courtship if nothing else: start here.

Permission to Live:  Must read if you've ever wondered what it's like to grow up uber conservative and then work through beginning your own family.  Great resource for gentle discipline as well.

UnderMuchGrace:   Invaluable resources here.

Random

This Guy talks about Calvinism and Lutheranism and what exactly is the difference in their tulips? :P  Can't recommend most of his videos, but this was a good one.

Women

If you've ever felt marginalized as a women, felt as though your gifts don't have a place in the Body or at least no place outside the home, welcome to God's Word to Women.  Many good articles by theologians, pastors and women just like you.

Christians for Biblical Equality:  Great place to find resources that are an alternative to wife-only-submission.

Rebecca Merrill Groothuis' site - great collection of links and articles.

Suzanne discusses Bible passages and translations and more - much of it concerning women and their "roles."  Lots of intelligent posts and conversation here.

Books:

Evolving in Monkey Town - Rachel Held Evans
The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse - Dave Johnson and Jeff VanVonderen
Families Where Grace is in Place - Jeff VanVonderen
Good News for Women - Rebecca Merrill Groothuis
Discovering Biblical Equality - Complementarity without Hierarchy

  1. May I recommend another book? It goes along very well with all the other blogs and books you listed here. It's called 'The Misunderstood God' by Darrin Hufford.

  2. Rachel, I got some hit from this site so I came to check it out and figured out I know who you are. :) Did you close down your other blog? I miss reading it. I was hoping to get a link to your Ludy review......

  3. Darcy! Glad you found me! :) Yes, I closed the other blog, sadly enough. I'm rethinking and refocusing. The Ludy review is actually on this site as well - too lazy to get the link at the moment, but since I only have 3 posts I think you can probably find it. I'll drop by your site and leave you the link later! :)
